Walsh Law, P.C. employs two attorneys: Marilana S. “Marnie” Walsh
Marnie Walsh is licensed to practice law in Colorado. Marnie’s practice focuses on estate planning for parents with young children. She prepares personalized, custom wills for her clients, as well as documents that help her clients get the care that they want while they are still alive. Marnie also has extensive experience drafting contracts and forming small business entities and tax-exempt organizations, including § 501(c)(3) charities and other nonprofit corporations. Marnie obtained her undergraduate degree in religious studies (with a minor in mathematics) from the College of Wooster, Ohio (B.A., 1988). She received her legal education from the University of Colorado, Boulder (J.D., 1991), and her tax degree from the University of Denver (LL.M. in taxation, 1995). Marnie was admitted to the practice of law in Colorado in 1991 and in the U.S. District Court, District of Colorado, in 1994. She served as a judicial law clerk in Jefferson County, Colorado, for over two years (first for the Honorable Henry E. Nieto, then for the Honorable Michael C. Villano). Marnie entered private practice in 1995 as an associate attorney with Fleming, Pattridge & Runnerstrom, P.C., in Golden, Colorado. In 2002, Marnie began commuting into Denver, working as an associate attorney with Hale Hackstaff Friesen, LLP (formerly Hale Hackstaff Tymkovich, LLP) in lower downtown. There, her practice included administering decedent’s estates, drafting wills and trusts and other estate planning documents, and advising political organizations regarding Colorado’s election and campaign practices laws and regarding federal taxation issues. Marnie is a member of the Colorado Bar Association and has been active in the First Judicial District Bar Association (Gilpin County and Jefferson County, Colorado), serving on its Board of Trustees from 1995 to 1997. In 1996, she received the Outstanding Young Lawyer Award from the First Judicial District Bar Association. Marnie has also served on the Board and as chair of several committees of Twin Connection, a nonprofit organization for parents of twins and higher-order multiples. Currently, Marnie volunteers as her daughter's Girl Scout troop leader and helps plan several annual events for her boys' Cub Scout pack. Marnie was born in Vicenza, Italy, on September 1, 1966. She is happily married to Tom Walsh, also an attorney. They have three children and a dog. He has wide-ranging experience in jury trials and trials to the court in jurisdictions throughout Colorado. The majority of his work involves contract litigation, business disputes, mechanic’s liens, and real property disputes. Most of his clients live or work in the community of Jefferson County, Colorado, and its surrounding areas. Tom obtained his undergraduate degree in political science from The Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colorado (B.A., 1987). He received his legal education from the University of Colorado, Boulder (J.D., 1990). In law school, he received the American Jurisprudence Award in Torts and was a Staff Editor for the University of Colorado Law Review. Tom was admitted to the practice of law in Colorado and in the U.S. District Court, District of Colorado, in 1990. Following his admission, Tom joined the firm of Holley, Albertson & Polk, P.C. in Golden, Colorado as an associate attorney. In 1997, Tom began practicing as a solo lawyer also in Golden, Colorado. His reported appellate cases include DCB Const. Co. v. Central City Dev. Co., 965 P.2d 115 (Colo. 1998). Tom is a member of the Colorado Bar Association and the First Judicial District Bar Association. He was the regional coordinator for the annual high school mock trial competitions in the First Judicial District (Gilpin County and Jefferson County, Colorado) from 1996 through 2008. In 1996, he received the Outstanding Young Lawyer Award from the First Judicial District Bar Association. Tom enjoys playing recreational hockey throughout the year. Currently, he is the Cub Scout den leader for one of his sons. Tom was born in Orlando, Florida, on August 17, 1964. He is happily married to Marnie Walsh, also an attorney.
